Black Music Month isn't just a date on a calendar. It's a recognition — of the sound that built movements, the rhythm that carried people through the unthinkable, the art form that gave testimony a beat and survival a melody.
This Saturday, June 6, Bontle By B will be vending at Black Music on the Block — the 5th Annual Official Celebration of the Black Music Month Proclamation & Flag Raising in the Oakville-Halton region. And if you know Bontle By B, you know we don't show up to rooms just to sell. We show up because the room aligns with who we are.
WHAT IS BLACK MUSIC ON THE BLOCK?
Hosted by BLing Events International with the support of the Town of Oakville, this free outdoor celebration takes place at Downtown Oakville Town Square, 94 George St., from 3–8 PM. It's the official recognition of June as Black Music Month in the Halton region — marked by a flag raising, live music, and community celebration. Five years strong, and it only gets bigger.
WHY WE'RE THERE
Bontle By B was built at the intersection of faith, culture, and identity. Every piece we create carries a declaration — about who you are, where you come from, and what you carry into every room you walk into.
Black Music Month is a celebration of all three. The music of the Black diaspora is spiritual. It's cultural. It's generational testimony put to sound. And if you've ever heard a song and felt it say something your own words couldn't — you know exactly what we mean.
WHAT YOU'LL FIND AT THE BOOTH
Our full three-pillar collection will be on display: Faith/Christian pieces, Melanin/Black Empowerment pieces, and Caribbean/Culture pieces. Because we don't separate what God put together, and neither should you.
Come find your piece. Come find your flag. Come be reminded of who you are before the world tried to tell you differently.
